I was freaking wrong, and for a long time, years in fact, it really did not make too much of a difference, well, unless you count the countless hours I spent on the phone with prospects who were never going to buy in the first place because, well, you guessed it, they really weren't my ideal client.

Or, the thousands of dollars I spent on Facebook ads to market to the wrong people, or the countless hours spent at events, speaking and sponsoring and God knows what else I did to "try" and get in front of my ideal client.

And I did, and it worked, I grew my list, I filled my calendar, but it was sporadic at best, and not consistent and honestly for the amount of time, money and energy put into it, it really wasn't paying off.

Although, I ignored it for so long, because, well:

1) I freaking hate to do this "ideal client avatar exercise"

2) I was still making money, in fact a lot of money, 6+ figures and my calendar was full and so was my bank account (but me, not so much, I wasn't fulfilled, can you relate?)

3) I was sabotaging myself(unconsciously of course) because if I was crystal clear on who my ideal client was, well then everything would be so much EASIER, I could talk to that one person, in conversation, marketing, funnels, etc. but that goes against the belief that says "You've gotta work hard for the money" and "you gotta sacrifice something to get something you want" and "it can't be that easy", and on and on. And so I didn't really do anything about it, that was until I wanted to get out of working in my business and start working on my business, really building that foundation that allowed me to step away from my business and still have income coming in.

To be able to take off the last couple of months to regroup with my family as we moved across the country and not feel like my business was going to implode if I wasn't doing 1:1 coaching or constantly in the hustle and bustle, even though, I was still only working less than 25 hours a week.

You see, if you are not really clear on who your ideal client is, it is really hard to craft the perfect marketing message, to create the perfect marketing, the perfect funnels, the systems that allow you to walk away for a day, a week, a month or more and still have your business grow.
